About

Michael W.,

I am a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering at The University of Texas. I received a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas and my Bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Before graduate school I worked three years as an environmental engineering consultant. My interests are in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), with a research focus on building materials and human exposure indoors.

Teaching Highlights:

Engineering Education Certificate, 2021. I gained experience applying research on learning to teaching undergraduate engineering.

Graduates Linked with Undergraduates in Engineering (GLUE), 2017. I was apart of a unique mentoring experience to increase the “number of historically marginalized students who pursue graduate study and academic careers in engineering” (GLUE webpage).

Indoor Air Boot Camp, 2016. A one week camp for high schools study to learn about indoor air quality.
